Thank you for your patronage and support of the JMU Summer Art Program.
The 2018 JMU Summer Art Program marked the 40th year of providing art classes to the youth in our community. Initiated in 1978 with one small class of children, the Summer Art Program grew and changed over the years to provide diverse class offerings to a wider range of ages reaching a high point of serving over 250 children across two weeks of instruction.
The past 40 years has also produced a growing and vibrant arts engaged community in Harrisonburg, which today provides arts instruction to all ages throughout the year. As the number of quality art programs in the community continues to grow, the JMU Summer Art Program will no longer be offered. The exciting success of the arts education programing in the community has allowed us to redirect our resources for serving the community. The JMU Art Education Center will continue our commitment to inspiring students to create, perform, understand and appreciate the arts in their lives, their community, and in the world.
